Introduction: Although brominated flame retardants (BFRs) such as polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) have been globally targeted for elimination, end of life vehicles (ELVs)
possess long lifespans and still potentially serve as a reservoir and source of environmental contamination by
BFRs. Therefore, the components containing BFRs should be carefully managed in an environmentally sound
manner. This study aimed to investigate actual levels of selected BFRs and their distribution in the interior
materials in vehicles.
